Remembrance and Reunion

On Saturday morning I had the privilege of sharing in a "Service of Remembrance" at Maritzburg College. It also happened to be College's Old Boys day and so the thoughts of Remembrance and Reunion have been in the forefront of my mind for a few days.

For me, the best illustration of Reunion is found in the Bible - in Luke 15:11-24. It is the well known story of the Prodigal Son (Loving Father). When Jesus tells this story he reminds his listeners that God longs to be reunited with us. The image of the Father running to embrace his long lost son is overwhelming. In that 'reunion moment' the Father reveals his true heart and is delighted in being reunited with his Son.

Remember that even if we have wandered away from our heavenly Father, that he is waiting for us to come to senses and to return home. Let also remember that God spares no expense in welcoming us back home.
